Veterans Day Program at Myatt Myatt Elementary will host a Veterans Day program at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Myatt cafeteria. There will be special seating for all veterans.

St. Philip School Veterans Day Program St. Philip Catholic School will host a Veterans Day program at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9.

Hutchins Veterans Day Program Hutchins Elementary 3rd Grade will host a Veterans Day program Friday at 1:15 p.m. in the gym. All veterans are welcome to attend.

Northside Veterans Day Program The singers and guitar players of Northside Elementary will present a Veterans Day Program Friday, Nov. 9 at 2:15 p.m. at the Northside cafeteria. Veterans and their families are welcome to attend.

Fried Catfish Or Chicken Fried Steak Lunch Progressive Missionary Baptist Church will host a plate lunch special Friday starting at 10 a.m. until all the catfish or chicken fried steak is gone. Plates are $7. Call 543- 7417 for information.

St. Philip School To Give Prizes St. Philip students are selling drawing tickets for many nice items including: winner's choice of a 2008 Kawasaki Bayou 4-Wheeler or 2008 Z225 John Deere Zero-Turn lawnmower, stainless steel barbecue pit, 10-22-caliber rifle, Samsung camcorder, $300 and $200 Visa gift cards. $10 donation each. Nominate Your Citizen of the Year It is time again to nominate a Citizen of the Year. Entries must be turned in by 5 p.m. Friday Nov. 9. The meeting for past Citizens of the Year is Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. Nominations should give as many details as possible about the person nominated.

SATURDAY, NOV. 10

Veterans Day Celebration American Legion Craig-Harriss Post 251 and its Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Veterans Day celebration and benefit Saturday, Nov. 10 at the American Legion Hall. Social hour at 4:30 p.m., barbecue chicken dinner served at 5:30 p.m. Plates are $6 for dine-in only followed by a live auction at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction and raffle to follow. Ladies auxiliary members are asked to bring desserts.

Louise-Hillje Beautification Day Louise-Hillje Beautification Organization will have a dump site at 3rd and Market streets, across from the fire station in Louise from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday Nov. 10. Accepting plastic, paper, aluminum, glass, cans, small metal objects and household debris. Large appliances, tires and motor oil will not be accepted; however, Rice Farmers Coop in El Campo will accept old tires for a fee depending on size. Brush pile in Louise will be open for tree limbs and lumber. Any donations will be appreciated because the cost of the dumpster is $180 per load. Volunteers are needed for clean-up campaign.

ECVFD Auxiliary Sells Cheese Balls The El Campo Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary will once again make and sell cheese balls. The cost is $6 per ball and the deadline for placing an order is Saturday, Nov. 10. Call Helen Hlavaty at 543-9483 to order.

EC Branch Library Scholastic Book Fair The El Campo Branch Library is holding its semi-annual Scholastic Book Fair, with a wide variety of books and novelties available for purchase, through Saturday, Nov. 10. The sale is open during regular library hours: today through Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

An Empty Place at the Table Presented The Houston Hospice - El Campo Area will present An Empty Place at the Table to help people cope with the holidays after a death, on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9- 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Wharton. For information call 979-578-0314.

Annual Texana Chili Spill The Seventh Annual Texana Chili Spill will be held Saturday, Nov. 10 as part of the Veterans Day weekend at Brackenridge Park and Campground near Edna. Cookoffs begin at 8 a.m., horseshoe and washer tournaments, cake auction, kiddie train and live music all day. Admission is $2 for 12 years and up.

SUNDAY, NOV. 11

Variety Shoot/Youth Fall Festival St. Mary's Youth of Nada will hold their annual Variety Shoot and Youth Fall Festival Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Nada Community Center. The Variety Shoot will be from 1-4 p.m. and include a variety of prizes and rounds for women and children. The Festival will be held from 4-7 p.m. Hamburgers, chili, pastries and other refreshments will be available. Activities include bingo, cake walk, silent auction, kid games and a raffle drawing at 7 p.m.

EC/Hillje SPJST Monthly Meeting El Campo Hillje SPJST Lodge 40 will hold its monthly meeting in Hillje at the Lodge Hall Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. Members are asked to bring a dessert.

Wesley Chapel Building Fund Harvest Fest Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 201 Olive, will host a Building Fund Harvest Fest Sunday, Nov. 11 at noon. Donations are welcome. Bake sale will be at Wal- Mart Saturday, Nov. 10.

ECISD's Lifeskills Holiday Bazaar ECISD's Lifeskills Classes Annual Holiday Bazaar is Thursday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, 1401 Avenue I. There will be holiday crafts, decorations, baked goods and gift items.

Register For Christmas Parade Christmas Around the World is the theme for this year's lighted Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6. Entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce.

Derby Dolls Sell Engraved Bricks The Derby Doll Booster Club is selling engraved bricks to be displayed in front of the new practice gym on the high school campus. These bricks may have your name, class, organization or business on them. They can also be in honor of someone, in memory of someone, a current or past student.
