SPJST members make plans for upcoming holiday events

Members of SPJST Lodge 30 Taiton Youth Club met Sunday at the Taiton Community Center. The meeting was called to order by President Kenna Bubela.

Members participated in a Thanksgiving word scramble.

Ryan Drapela led the Pledge of Allegiance and SPJST motto and prayer. Roll call and minutes were read by Steven Drapela, secretary. The treasurer's report was given by Danielle Zalman.

Members were reminded to pay their dues of $1.50.

In old business, the District 6 fall meeting was held Oct. 14 in Bay City. Congratulations were extended to all ornament contest winners.

In new business, the SPJST home office will have a Christmas open house Dec. 3. The SPJST float will be entered in the El Campo Christmas parade Dec. 6.

Lisa Bubela, youth leader, offered information about the club's Christmas party. She reminded everyone to bring a $10 gift.

The November birthday celebrant was Steven Drapela. Members read their poems and door prizes were exchanged.

The next meeting will be Dec. 9 at the Taiton Community Center in conjunction with the Christmas social. Members were asked to arrive by 10 a.m. to set up and decorate. The meeting will be held at 11 a.m. The craft for the December meeting will be a Christmas decoration to be used as a table centerpiece. The charity will be to bring toys for a needy child or a canned good for a needy family.
