Jason Soliz and Chad Kight of El Campo represented Soliz Martial Arts Academy during the Battle of H-Town held in Houston.

There were more than 500 competitors in this Brazilian Jiu Jitsu event.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint locks and choke holds to force an opponent to submit.

Kight won the mens advanced lightweight division. In a field of 30 contestants, he won three matches to win the title, all by submission (choke hold). A submission hold (colloquially referred to as a submission) is a combat sports term for a grappling hold which is applied with the purpose of forcing an opponent to submit, or quit, either due to extreme pain or fear of injury.

Soliz, age 17, was the youngest competitor in the mens advanced middleweight division. He won all five matches by submission (arm lock/chokes) to claim the title. He also recently claimed third place at the world championship event held in Long Beach, Calif.
