Martha Webb

Martha Nell Beddingfield Webb, 81, born Aug. 11, 1926 in Kerrville, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007.

Martha Nell was the sole daughter of Captain and Mrs. James Claude Beddingfield. Martha Nell grew up in Kerrville on Mountain Street, now known as Earl Garrett Street. She briefly served as Cadet Sponsor Captain at Schreiner College, before transferring to The University of Texas at Austin where she was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Martha Nell graduated with a Baccalaureate of Science in Education from Southwest Texas State University in 1970. She taught 5th grade for many years at Louise ISD while residing in El Campo, later becoming a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association.

Martha Nell married Mack D. "Bubba" Webb of El Campo and had two children.

Survivors include her son, Jim Webb; daughter, Nancy Cory; son-in-law, Richard Cory; grandchildren, Rachel and Chad Cory, Jonathon and Michael Webb; and great-grandchildren, Taryn and Colton.

Martha Nell was a lifelong member of the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, and has served on the board of the Butt Holdsworth Memorial Library.

Funeral Services for Martha Nell were held Monday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Stockton Williams officiating. Interment followed in Glen Rest Cemetery.

Memorial remembrances may be made to Butt-Holdsworth Library in Kerrville.
