      The Lady Hornets faced Thrall Saturday and won an intense volleyball match to advance to the regional quarterfinal in the playoffs. Louise came away with a win with scores of 25-20, 16-25, 22-25, 25-22 and 16-14 to beat the Tigerettes.

      El Campo's Varsity Girls cross country team competed in regionals Saturday in Humble and finished with a couple of school bests. Saturday's event marked the first time two individuals finished in the top 20 of the region's best runners and the highest team finish in Lady 'Bird history.

      El Campo Middle School's eighth-grade volleyball teams faced Briscoe Junior High Oct. 25. Both the Red and White teams earned 2-0 wins in their respective matches. 8th Grade Red The Lady 'Birds overcame Briscoe in a close match. El Campo took the first game 27- 25 and won the second 25-20.

      Near perfection was required in the Week 10 edition of the El Campo Leadernews Football Contest. Several entrants filled out ballots that only missed three games. However, even three misses was too much this week. To claim any prize this week, ballots could have no more than two misses.

      El Campo Middle School's eighth-grade football teams faced the Lamar Junior High Ponies Oct. 30 and split a pair of games. 8th Grade White The Ricebirds played solid football in all four quarters for a 22-14 win over Lamar.
