Week 10 contest champs named Near perfection was required in the Week 10 edition of the El Campo Leadernews Football Contest. Several entrants filled out ballots that only missed three games. However, even three misses was too much this week. To claim any prize this week, ballots could have no more than two misses. Filling out an 8-way tie for first place were Richard Smajstrla, Ricky Aldridge, O.D. Williams, Ricky Wendel, Charles Washington, Donna Garcia, Alonzo Gonzalez and Jerry Williams. In one of the most log-jammed weeks of the contest yet, Tiebreaker 1 came into play. The Houston Texans defeated the Oakland Raiders 24-17 Sunday, making the total score 41 points. Of all eight ballots, Wendel got the closest with a guess of 42. For finishing first, Wendell will receive a check of $25 and a $25 dine-in credit for El Campo's Pizza Hut. Second place went to Jerry Williams with his guess of 38 points. For being only three points away from the total score, he will receive a check for $15 in the mail. Third place came out to another tie. Both Washington and O.D. Williams missed the total points for the game by only four points. Both teams moved the ball fairly well Sunday, leaving the total yards, and answer for Tiebreaker 2 at 669. Washington guessed 549 total yards, but lost out on the $10 check to O.D. Williams who guessed 600 yards. Entry forms into the contest can be found throughout football season in Wednesday's edition of the Leader-News and online at www.leader-news.com.
