Five hour CEU course to be offered in December

An upcoming event in Jackson County can provide Continuing Education Units for private, non-commercial or commercial pesticide applicators licensees. On Dec. 5, a fivehour CEU event, sponsored by Texas Cooperative Extension of Jackson County will be held at the Jackson County Services Building auditorium in Edna.

The program consists of:

• One hour IPM: Dr. Wayne Hanselka, Texas Cooperative Extension Range Specialist, Herbicides 101;

• One hour Laws and Regulations: Melissa Barton, Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Inspector

• Three hours General: Daniel Lewis, Texas Forest Service project forester, one hour on Common Tree Disease Identification, Prevention and Management; Mac Young, Texas Cooperative Extension risk management specialist, one hour on Financial And Risk Management Assistance; and Joel Wagner, Texas Parks and Wildlife natural resources one hour on Wildlife Damage Control.

Doors open at 8 a.m. and the event takes place from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. at the Jackson County Services Building auditorium, 411 N. Wells in Edna.

Registration is $20 and includes a meal from Mustang Creek Barbecue. RSVP is due by Nov. 30. Call 782-3312 to sign up for the class.
