Louise building dedicated to Popp

The Louise Community honored one of its own when it dedicated an improved facility all in the name of "service to the late Wayne Popp.
The Lion's Club of Louise and many community members worked on an addition and comp lete remodel of the Scout House in Louise.
O n Tuesday, Oct. 30t, Robert Bridges, vice- presi- dent of the local Lion's Club made opening remarks at the dedication of the remodeled facility.
The Louise Lion's Club and Scout Building has new restrooms, an enlarged kitchen area and a nice covered picnic area, complete with a built in barbecue pit.
Lori LeBlue of the Lower Colorado River Authority - which awarded the Lions with a grant to improve the facility - was present for the ribbon cutting.
Bridges noted how dozens of local citizens and businesses pitched in and made contributions of time, equipment and money to the project.
He said the project never would have begun without the encouragement and letter writing of Wayne E. Popp, a life-long citizen of Louise who passed away in 2006.

The building was dedicated Popp in honor of his enthusiastic support of the Louise community, and family members were present for the dedication ceremony.
Visiting members of the Bay City Lion's Club also were on hand to celebrate the opening of the facility. Other official guests included Louise ISD Superintendent Andy Peters and El Campo City Manager John Steelman. A fajita dinner was prepared and served by the local Lion's Club members.
