Mustangs overcome 'Birds in second half
      The Ricebirds ran into a tough Lamar Consolidated team Friday, led by one of the state's top running backs. Jacquizz Rodgers led the Mustangs with an evasive running attack to defeat El Campo 41-22 in the final game of District 24-4A play.

Playoff Tickets On Sale Tuesday
      Tickets for El Campo's first-round playoff game against La Marque at Traylor Stadium in Rosenberg at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 go on sale Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the administration office. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6.

      Before the school year started, Bryan Branch took his Lady Hornet volleyball team into the gym and talked about Louise's recent athletic achievements. He pointed to banners for boys and girls basketball, track and several other areas. The only sport missing was volleyball.

      The Lady 'Birds are breaking records only fivemeets into the new swim season. El Campo's swim teams traveled to Richmond to compete in the Lamar Consolidated ISD Invitational Nov. 2 and 3. The greatest achievement of the meet for the Lady 'Birds came in the 17th event.

      Rodney Dowell has accomplished one of his major missions as head coach of the Hornets. For the first time in several years, Louise's football team will experience the postseason. A 14-6 win at Pettus Friday sealed Louise's playoff spot.

Lady 'Birds start season with win
      The Lady 'Birds started off the new basketball season with a win Tuesday. The team traveled to Clute to face Brazoswood and held off the Lady Bucs late in the game for a 40-38 first-game victory. Brazoswood made a good start early on to take a 19-16 lead into halftime.

Man Of The Year
      Knights of Columbus Council #9394 held its fifth annual "Betty Jo Prasek Memorial Fishing Tournament honoring all deceased brothers and spouses of the council on Saturday, May 5. Some 58 teams competed this year. The proceeds are used for scholarships and other KC charitable endeavors.

El Campo girls golf begins at Fort Bend Country Club
      The Lady 'Bird golf team competed in the Lamar Consolidated ISD tournament Oct. 29 at Fort Bend Country Club. The team faced some tough competition and played a course that can be trying at times. Overall, El Campo finished fifth out of six teams and had some good individual scores.

ECMS Volleyball Update
      El Campo Middle School's eighth-grade volleyball teams finished their season as district champions with wins over George Junior high Monday. 8th Grade Red The Lady 'Birds swept George in two close games with scores of 25-23 and 25-22 to get the match win.
