Week 11 contest winners named There is no doubt that this year has featured some of the most surprising games in recent college football history. Every week, it seems, the Leader-News Football Contest becomes much more competitive due to college football's current parody and this week was no different. No one missed fewer than five games in Week 11 while several contestants fell victim to shocking final scores. The battle for first place came down to a two-way tie. James Harp and Jeff Stavena were the only entrants to miss only five games, bringing Tiebreaker 1 into play. With the Texans off this week, the Cowboys and Giants played in the deciding game. Dallas defeated New York 31-20 for a total score of 51. Harp came closest with his guess of 55 points and will receive a $25 check and $25 dinein credit at Pizza Hut. Stavena guessed 44 points and finished second. He wins a check for $15. Several people tied for third place with six misses. Paul Whitely, Todd Mickelson, Charles Preuss, Jerry Williams, Leslie Kippes, Ricky Wendel, Brian Hargrove, Boby Loehr, Kevin Saiz, Duane Schreiber and Ricky Aldridge all finished among the top contenders for third prize. Not even Tiebreaker 1 could determine the winner here. Wendel and Mickelson both missed the total score by four points, forcing a look at Tiebreaker 2. The total yards in the game was 623. Mickelson came close with his guess of 800, but Wendel claimed third place by guessing 632 yards. For finishing third, Wendel will receive a check for $10.
