Legion appreciates support

Editor, the Leader-News:

The Craig Harris American Legion Post 251 would like to thank everyone who helped make our Veterans Day Celebration/Fundraiser such a great success.

Thank you to the citizens and merchants of El Campo who so generously donated items for our raffle and auction and to everyone who purchased raffle tickets, food tickets and auction items. Our auctioneer, Doug Matthews of Bay City, did a great job auctioneering and keeping the crowd entertained. Also, we appreciate all the news media coverage of our event.

Musician spreading The Word

Editor, the Leader-News:

I would like to share with my fellow El Campoans a fast growing group named 'Dale Friedrick and The Jesus Train Band.'

Dale Friedrick is the pastor at the Foursquare Gospel Fellowship in Kerrville. Mr. Friedrick writes with a simplified way of expressing himself in God's words. Dale has over 300 songs to his credit. His new C.D. recorded in Nashville, Tenn. has 14 songs which will touch your heart and soul. The title is "He is the Rock."

The music is country & western with a bluegrass flavor. Dale's beautiful voice, heartfelt words and wonderful band are a combination of excellence.

The song "It's Time America Came Back" makes me think of our country and its fate. The songs may make you smile, cry, tap your foot or want to sing-along. I play the songs all through the day.

You may request Dale's songs at our local radio station (which I love) with the station's great DJs and their willingness to play music we want to hear.

Mr. Friedrick had a wonderful concert in Victoria on Oct. 27. I must mention Mr. and Mrs. Russell Pruitt who has worked so tirelessly giving their time, support and energy to Dale's concert so that we may spread God's words (and future work).

Thank you for letting me share this information and for Dale Friedrick for his gifts of talent and spreading God's words.
