Louise defense burns Badgers for shutout

      Strong defensive play and a solid running game helped the Hornets to a 14-0 win over the Bruni Badgers Friday for a post-season victory. Up next for the streaking Hornets is D'Hanis. Louise will take on the Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Matador Stadium in Seguin.

Lady 'Birds blast the Bulldogs

      The Lady 'Birds were impressive in their home opener in front of a crowd eager to see what the new basketball season could look like. Tuesday's 77-26 win over the Yoakum Bulldogs featured an El Campo team that dominated every part of the game with great teamwork and hustle.

Ricebirds face Cougars today

      The Ricebirds will play in the playoffs today for the fourth time in the last five years when they travel to Traylor Stadium Rosenberg to take on the La Marque Cougars. With the game scheduled for kickoff 2 p.m. today, the Ricebirds had an extra day of practice Friday to prepare for La Marque.

EC golfers swing in individual tourney
      El Campo's golf teams split up this past week and competed in the Lamar Consolidated ISD Individual Tournament Nov. 7 at River Pointe Golf Course. The Ricebirds and Lady 'Birds had several golfers play great games on the tricky course.

ECMS eighth-graders end season with George games
      El Campo Middle School's eighth-grade football teams finished their season Nov. 6 with a pair of difficult games with George Junior High. Both teams played well, but lost to George in an exciting end to the year.

      El Campo Youth Football League's Junior Red football team will play in the Superbowl today at 8:30 p.m. at El Campo Middle School.
