Community-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner El Campo's Community-Wide Thanksgiving Dinner will be Thursday at the Civic Center. Serving is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lots of door prizes! Musical entertainment! There is no charge for the meal, but those who would like to may contribute. For more information call Pastor Danny Roberts at 543-3732 (home) or 543-3959 (office).

Holiday Garbage Collection Schedule The Thanksgiving garbage pickup schedule is as follows: Residential garbage normally picked up on Thursday will be picked up today, with no pickup Thanksgiving Day. Regular service will resume Friday. Containerized commercial garbage service will not change. No bulky/brush pickup this week.

WCYF Roaster Orders Needed Any 4-H or FFA member interested in raising Roasters for the 2008 WCYF must order their Roasters by today at a cost of $1.35 per bird. There is a minimum of 10 birds per exhibitor, maximum of 30 birds. Exhibitors in the same family must order under their own name. Entry cards are available at the El Campo Chamber of Commerce, Wharton County Extension Office, East Bernard Library and the Fair Office. Please call the Fair Office at 677-3350 for more information. The WCYF office will be closed for Thanksgiving Nov. 22-23.

IMUD Office Closed For Thanksgiving The Isaacson Municipal Utility District (IMUD) office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Trash pickup for IMUD will be on Thursday as scheduled.

Louise Hornet Tailgate Rally Friday A Tailgate sendoff rally will be held Friday, Nov. 23 at 12:30 p.m. at the Louise Fire Station. Hamburgers are $1 (first come, first serve). The Hornets will travel to Matador Stadium (Seguin High School) to take on D'Hanis at 7:30 p.m. Go out and support your Louise Hornets to pump them up for this playoff game. And be sure to take the Big Blue Hornet Booster page found in today's Leader-News (Section C) to the game with you to show your Hornet spirit!

Palacios Main Street Market Days Palacios Main Street Market Days will be Saturday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Railroad Park in Palacios.

Tejano Education Fund-raiser A fund-raiser dance for Wharton County Tejano Education will present Los Autenticos at the Pan American Ballroom on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Tickets are $8 pre-sale and $10 at the door. For tickets call 979- 648-2713.

ECISD Gifted and Talented Program El Campo ISD will conduct a parent awareness meeting to provide information about the Gifted and Talented Program and the characteristics of gifted students. This K-12 informational meeting is being offered at Hutchins Elementary in the cafeteria Monday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. Deadline for students in grades 1-11 is Dec. 7. Veterans Service Office Hours The office of Wharton County Veterans Service Officer Harvey H. Stelzel Jr. is open every Tuesday and Wednesday during November. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. The office is located at 1017 N. Alabama Road in Wharton. Phone 532-1311.

BEEs Sell Decorative Street Lamps Let's continue to beautify the downtown El Campo area with decorative street lamps, available from the BEEs. They will be placed on either corner around Walgreen's. To purchase a lamp or for information call Carolyn Kelly at 543-2397 or Ruth Sacco at 543-5339.

Breakfast With Santa In Taiton The Pilot Club of El Campo is hosting its 5th Annual Breakfast with Santa at the St. John Catholic Church Parish Hall in Taiton on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Breakfast tickets are $4 donation. Photographs with Santa will be by Jay Saucedo. Drawing tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Quilt tickets are $5 each and only 500 sold.

20th Annual Christmas Mall The El Campo Chamber of Commerce will host its 20th Annual Christmas Mall at the El Campo Civic Center Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2. Limited booth space is still available. Call the Chamber for information at 543- 2713.

Ladies Christmas Drama/Dessert Party Grace Community Fellowship will host the A.D. Players National Touring Company at a Ladies Christmas Drama and Dessert Party on Monday, Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Community Fellowship, 1900 E. Boling Highway in Wharton. The A.D. Players will perform Halos and Holly which is a collection of short Christmas plays written by A.D. Players founder Jeannette Clift George. Books Are Fun Book Fair El Campo Memorial Hospital Sunshine Ladies will host a Books Are Fun book fair on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 6 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Children's books, general interest and reference books, education books, cookbooks, religious and inspirational, sports, photo albums, stationery, toys, videos, music and much more. Great Christmas gift items. A portion of the proceeds of the book fair will be donated to Sunshine Ladies.

Register For Christmas Parade Christmas Around the World is the theme for this year's lighted Christmas Parade at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6. Entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce.

CPR Class For Wharton County Residents A CPR class for Wharton County residents will be held Saturday, Dec. 8. Students must pre-register a minimum of 48 hours prior to the class with the chapter headquarters in Bay City. Information can be obtained at 979-245- 3056.

Derby Dolls Sell Engraved Bricks The Derby Doll Booster Club is selling engraved bricks to be displayed in front of the new practice gym on the high school campus. These bricks may have your name, class, organization or business on them. They can also be in honor of someone, in memory of someone, a current or past student.
