Northside collects for food pantry

Motal's class brought in the most of any class, a total of 1,131 nonperishable items. Together, fourth and fifth graders collected 7,565 items and more than a $1,000 in cash donations.
Each year Northside Elementary collects items for the Blessing Cup Storehouse for the holiday season.

Students had one week to bring their contributions, which was a contest between grades and classes.

For the fourth graders, Laura Motal's class came in first with a total of 1,131 items donated. Second place went to Brenda Maxwell's class with a total of 325 items donated.

Altogether, the fourth grade donated 3,123 nonperishable items.

In the fifth grade, Laura Deiss' class came in first with a total of 909 items and second place went to Terry Smith's class with a 814 items.

The total for the fifth grade classes came to 4,442 items, beating the fourth graders' total. Together both grades donated 7,565 items plus $1,052 in cash.
