James & Geraldine Venglar celebrate 50th anniversary

James "Jim" and Geraldine Venglar celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 6, 2007 with an afternoon dance followed by a catered meal.
The event was hosted by their children and grandchildren at the DaCosta Hermann Sons Hall. Approximately 200 guests attended and nine of the 18 original wedding attendants were present.
James Venglar and Geraldine Mazoch were married on Oct. 5, 1957 at St. Phillip's Catholic Church in El Campo by the late Rev. Monsignor A. Petru. The reception was held at the SPJST Hall in Hillje.
Children of the couple are Donnie Venglar and wife Carmencita, Katherine Venglar Leland and husband "Slim," Michael Venglar and friend Peggy Jones, Pamela Venglar Beard and friend Arti Dornak.
James is retired from Union Carbide with 37-years of service, and Geraldine is a retired cake decorator and wedding coordinator. They reside in the Wood-Hi/Inez area and tend to their small herd of cattle. Both are active members of the DaCosta Hermann Sons Lodge No. 265 and are presently managing the hall. They are members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Inez.
