Valerie Murphy & Jason Garcia wed at St. Philip Church

Valerie Ann Murphy and Jason Christopher Garcia were united in marriage at 2 p.m., Nov. 17, 2007 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Father Gary Janak and Deacon Jerome Grahmann performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Dee Hunt of Louise. Parents of the groom are Chris and Linda Garcia of Louise.

Arrangements of pink, mauve and white Asiatic lilies, roses, gladiolus and calcynia adorned the altar and lector stand.

Music was provided by Janice Cox, organist; Aaron Harrison, soloist; and Daniel Berglund, cantor. Selections included "Wherever You Go," Pachelbel's "Canon in D," "You Are Mine," "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," 'I Can Only Imagine" and "Trumpet Voluntary."

The bride, escorted by her father, wore an ivory taffeta halter gown designed by Allure. Lace embroidered motifs adorning the bodice and the front of the gown and train. Motifs were embellished with Swarovski crystals, bugle beads, seed beads, rice pearls and sequins. The gown swept to chapel-length train. She chose a crystal, pearl and rhinestone tiara with a double finger-tip length veil of ivory illusion encircled with embroidered edging with bugle beads, crystals and rhinestones. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of pink Asiatic lilies, attache roses and calcynia in shades of pink and mauve with a princess twist.

Matron of honor was Mayna Garcia of Ft. Polk, La., sister-inlaw of the groom. Maid of honor was Vanessa Murphy of Louise, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Audrey Wessels of College Station, friend of the bride and cousin of the groom; Heather Cranek of Corpus Christi, friend of the bride; Dale Higdon of Ganado, friend of the bride and groom; and Shelby Stehno of Louise, cousin of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Ashton Sabrsula of Boling, friend of the bride and groom.

Attendants wore gowns of Daphne rose satin and ivory featuring a halter bodice. The slipper-length gowns fell from a natural waistline accented with an ivory embroidered sash. They carried a nosegay of roses in shades of pink hand-tied with satin ribbon.

Flower girls were Macy Henke of Shiner, cousin of the groom; and Amanda Garcia of Ft. Polk, La., niece of the groom. Ring bearer was T.J. Garcia of Ft. Polk, nephew and godson of the groom.

Best man was Tim Garcia of Ft. Polk, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Efrain Vasquez of Louise, Clint Sabrsula of El Campo, James Higdon of Ganado and Gary DeLoach of Victoria, friends of the groom; and Christopher Garcia of El Campo, nephew of the groom. Nick Garcia of El Campo, nephew and godson of the groom, was junior groomsman.

Ushers were Elvis Garcia of El Campo, brother of the groom; James Riley of Wharton and Colby Elliot of Henderson, friends of the groom.

Witnesses were Flo Tupa, godmother of the bride; and Jeff Zernicek, cousin of the groom. Offertory gifts were presented by Bob and Janey Mouret, the groom's godparents.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Taiton Community Center. Members of the house party were Diane Garcia, sister-inlaw of the groom; Lisa Sabrsula, friend of the bride and groom; Stephanie Rodriguez, Ashley Girlinghouse, Rebecca Munos, Valerie Villarreal, Rose De- Loach and Liz Krenek, friends of the bride; JoAnn Zernicek, aunt of the groom; and Emillie Reck, friend of the bride.

The bride is a May 2005 graduate of Louise High School. She is a new accounts representative and teller at Prosperity Bank in Wharton. The groom is a 1995 graduate of Louise High School and a 1996 graduate of San Jacinto College. He is an automotive painter at Tones Body Shop in Edna.

Rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at Country Pride Friday evening.

After a wedding trip to San Antonio, the couple will reside in Louise.
