Hornets season complete in second round

      The Hornets' dream season came to an end in the second round of the playoffs. Louise fell to the D'Hanis Cowboys 42-6 last night at Seguin. It was the Hornets' first playoff appearance since 2000 and first time in the second round since 1986.

Lady 'Birds take on top teams in meet
      El Campo's girls swim team traveled to Corpus Christi Nov. 16 and 17 to compete in their toughest meet of the season thus far. The Lady 'Birds faced off with several 5A schools from the Corpus Christi, Austin and San Antonio areas.

      The Lady Hornets earned their first win of the basketball season Tuesday when they hosted East Bernard. Louise's 36-30 win was anchored by a strong rebounding game. Freshman girls take third spot
      The Lady 'Birds team took third place at the Victoria ISD Annual Freshman Basketball Tournament held Nov. 15-17. El Campo took games over Yoakum, Beeville and Edna to finish third. The only team to defeat the ladies was Victoria Memorial.

      El Campo Middle School's girls basketball teams started the season with games against Bay City Monday. The eighth-grade teams split with Bay City. 8th Grade Red Bay City's defense came through to beat El Campo 37-17.

Harrison's Catch

MIGRATORY BIRD HUNTING REPORT
      South Zone The region continues to be the hot spot for duck hunters in Texas. The prairie was drying considerably, however, steady rains over the weekend dumped as much as five inches of rain in the region. Rice fields are filled with water which should hold ducks in the region longer.
