Lady 'Birds take on top teams in meet

El Campo's girls swim team traveled to Corpus Christi Nov. 16 and 17 to compete in their toughest meet of the season thus far.

The Lady 'Birds faced off with several 5A schools from the Corpus Christi, Austin and San Antonio areas.

Meredith Bard, Hailey O'Briant, Blythe Nava and Randi McClure combined in the events relays to help El Campo to a few school bests.

Perhaps most notable is the team's 200-yard freestyle relay time. It was only .15 behind one of the state's qualifying times from last year.

As the season has progressed, the girls have continued to improve. Their showing at Corpus Christi is a good indication of the Lady 'Birds' potential for the rest of the year.
