LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Mom an expert in clutter

Editor, the Leader-News:

I would like to respond to the story in Saturday, Nov. 17, Lifestyle Today section, Page 5-B in titled "Henderson keeps clutter in control."

Georgia Henderson has got lots of calls about this story. I believe she was misunderstood by these people: If anyone knows about clutter, she does. She thinks everything in this world has some value to someone. You know all people keep something they treasure.

Someone's family member could die or get hurt or just want a picture of their parents or family members when they where young and I bet she has it. Or maybe your child or grandchild has come to her house at some point in their lives, and if they left something there, she still has it. She always says "Just give me a minute," and there it is.

If anyone knows how to deal with clutter, she does: She can make a Christmas tree appear from nowhere. If you ever want to know how to hide something or make it disappear, just ask her.

People are considered a expert when they know a lot about the subject at hand. If you have never done something, then you have to be taught. That is what "Nipping Clutter in the Bud" was about.

So I believe she is a expert!

The reason I know this is because I am one of her children. And we are proud of our Mom!

Go ahead with annexation

Editor, the Leader-News:

I am urging the El Campo City Council to proceed with their annexation plans. If we don't annex now, we will have to do it later at a higher cost and higher interest rates on the bonds. We cannot afford to allow our population numbers to stagnate while our progressive neighbors in Wharton are annexing every acre that they can and increasing the Wharton population.

El Campo has the advantage of the crossroads of U.S. 59 and Hwy. 71 and should be the hub of growth between Houston and Victoria as long as we don't fence ourselves in by the present city limit signs.

El Campo has great municipal and recreational facilities. City Hall facilities have grown. The El Campo Police Department facility is growing. The El Campo Fire Department facility is growing.

El Campo recreational facilities are growing.

But the population of El Campo has not been matching this growth.

Could it be that the cart is before the horse and we need more horses pulling?

Those homes and businesses bordering the city limits have the advantage of these city facilities. El Campo needs you! Join us in being proud citizens of El Campo and let's grow together.

Respectfully,

Rita Radley

Veterans Day event went well

Editor, the Leader-News:

Special thanks to everyone who participated in the Louise High School Veterans Day celebration. We were very excited to have about 25 veterans present for the program. The veterans were treated to musical selections by the band and second graders.

A special fly-over was provided by Robert Vajdos. The Louise Student Council would personally like to thank the veterans for coming, Prasek's for donating cookies, and the Louise cafeteria ladies for all the preparation to make things special for our guests.
