EC-Hillje 4-H club spreads Christmas cheer

In lieu of their regular monthly meeting, members of the Hillje-Louise 4-H Club visited the Czech Catholic Home for the Aged at Hillje on Sunday, Dec. 2nd.

Led by volunteer leader Fred Goynes, the group sang Christmas carols to the residents in the dining hall and strolled the hallways caroling.

Residents were given small gifts and cards and their doors were decorated with Christmas wreaths and door hangers made by the 4-H members.

The visit was coordinated with activity director Laurie Cerny. The staff of the Hillje Home served refreshments of cookies and punch to the 4-H members.

Then members met at the Christ Lutheran Church in El Campo for their Christmas party and gift exchange. The "Cajun Night Before Christmas" was read by leader Randa Mauch as members participated in a Chinese gift exchange.

Refreshments of sandwiches, chips, dip, cookies and colas was served. There were 11 youth members and 12 adults in attendance.

The next meeting of the club will be held on Monday, Jan. 14 at WCEC beginning at 6 p.m.
