Driver sought in wreck
According to El Campo Police Officer Cindy Howell, who is also coordinator of West Wharton County Crime Stoppers, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Little is known of the wreck, but police do know that it happened in the 1000 block of West Fifth. A 23-yearold man was hit and taken to El Campo Memorial Hospital after being struck by an unknown vehicle that did not stop to help. "The right signal lamp of the vehicle was knocked out during the collision," Howell said. "The vehicle will have damage to its right front." No other information about the accident was available at presstime. A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and grand jury indictment of the driver of the vehicle that hit the young man. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain completely anonymous. Anyone with information about any crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 543-8477, or ECPD Sgt. David Howard at 543-5311. "Remember: Informants do not have to give their name: They're given a code number," Howell said. "We don't use Caller I.D. and our phone is not taped." |
