Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Martinez of Columbus announce the birth of their first child, a son named Giovanni Manuel Martinez. The baby was born at 11:53 p.m., Nov. 20, 2007 at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces.

He is welcomed home by a brother and sister: Christopher Lara, age 5, and Raelynn Martinez, age 2.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Zeferino Lara of El Campo. Paternal grandparents are Manuel and Victoria Martinez of San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

The mother is the former Belen Lara.

Kiley Montalvo

John and Chastity Montalvo of El Campo announce the birth of their first child, a daughter named Kiley Loraine Montalvo. The baby was born at 4:11 a.m., Nov. 22, 2007 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces.

She is welcomed home by a sister and four brothers: DaLayna Brown, age 4; Richard Montalvo, age 15; Dylan Schimcek, age 14; Zachary Montalvo, age 10 and Nathaniel Montalvo, age 8.

Maternal grandparents are Carolyn Brown of El Campo and Manuel Brown of Hallettsville. Paternal grandparents are Victor and Manuela Montalvo of El Campo.

Great-grandparents are Lorena Lyons of El Campo and the late Walter Lyons; Naomi Brown of Hallettsville and the late Ernest Brown; the late Ferenvio and Margret Montalvo and the late Manuel Bosquez and Placida Garcia.

The mother is the former Chastity Brown.

Kaliyah Ramirez

Destinie Renee Ramirez of El Campo announces the birth of her first child, a daughter named Kaliyah LaShaye Ramirez. The baby was born at 6:23 a.m., Dec. 7, 2007 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton weighing 7 pounds.

Maternal grandparents are Kimberly Munoz of El Campo and Augustine Ramirez of Bay City. Maternal step-grandfather is Thomas Tovar of El Campo.

Great-grandparents are the late Janie Rico of El Campo and Raymond Munoz of Bay City.

Jeremy Soto

Mr. and Mrs. Ricardo Adrian Soto announce the birth of their second child, a son named Jeremy Andrew Soto. The baby was born at 7:44 a.m., Dec. 4, 2007 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces.

He is welcomed home by his sister, Kylie Soto, age 7.

Maternal grandparents are Josie Ratcliff and Randolph and Kay Ratcliff, all of El Campo. Paternal grandparents are Damacio and Elida Soto of El Campo.

The mother is the former Carly Marie Ratcliff.

Megan Trochta

Mr. and Mrs. Keith Trochta of Katy announce the birth of their first child, a daughter named Megan Lynn Trochta. The baby was born at 11:10 p.m., Oct. 28, 2007 at Christus St. Catherine Hospital in Katy weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces.

Maternal grandparents are Glynn Boone of Pensacola, Fla. and Elan "Jimmy" Bradshaw of Greely, Colo. Paternal grandparents are Kenny and Karen Trochta of El Campo and the late Connie Trochta.

Great-grandparents are Marvin and Geraldine Trochta of El Campo, Ed Lezak of Clemville and O.A. and Erlene Boone.

The mother is the former Mary Elan Boone.

Jake Yockey

Jake William Yockey, son of Trey and Beth Yockey of Richmond, was baptized at 11 a.m., Dec. 9, 2007 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in El Campo with Father Gary Janak officiating. His godparents are Julie Leslie and Dustin Yockey.

He wore a 60-year-old christening gown his grandmother and mother wore at their baptisms.

A luncheon was hosted by his "Nana" Essie and "Papa" Jim Leslie at the El Campo Country Club.

Special guests at the baptism were Essie and Jim Leslie and Cheryl and Dan Yockey, grandparents; Grady and Pat Coker and Bea Yockey, greatgrandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
