City Arrests Alcohol, drugs

Marcus Lynell Earls, 18, of 1504 Able was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 on charges of possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana, minor driving under the influence of alcohol, no driver's license, no insurance and unsafe backing after allegedly backing into a vehicle pumping gasoline at L Stop, 411 N. Wharton. A store employee who witnessed the crash reportedly stopped Earls from leaving the scene. He was released at 11:22 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on $3,000 bond.

Delfino Alvarez, 26, of 604 Oscar was arrested at 1:35 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication after being the passenger in a car stopped for a traffic violation. He allegedly had $1,588 in his pocket, which police confiscated because they believed it could be proceeds from narcotic sales. Alvarez allegedly had less than 1 gram of cocaine in his possession. He was released at 11:11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on $8,500 bond.

Christopher Lee Hagan, 22, of 423 Sanford in Wharton was arrested at 10:28 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 on a Wharton County warrant for possession of marijuana, a Lavaca County warrant for theft, charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon and running a stop sign and Wharton PD warrants for running a stop sign, no insurance and violating a promise to appear. He allegedly had a 9mm pistol in his glove box and a magazine containing eight bullets in the pocket inside the driver's door. He was transferred to Wharton County Jail the next day.

Shayna Nicole Cook, 17, of 202 Turek was arrested at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 on charges of public intoxication and criminal mischief after allegedly breaking bedroom windows and tearing down window blinds during a disturbance at her home. She was released the next day on $625.50 bond.

Abel Cantero Ramirez, 26, of 204 N. Wharton was arrested at 12:46 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on charges of driving while intoxicated and no driver's license and cited for open alcohol container in a motor vehicle. He was released at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on $3,000 bond.

Benjamin James Gonzales, 21, of 310 Newport was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on a charge of possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana and warrants for open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, failure to appear and disorderly conduct - language. He was released at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 on $2,000 bond.

Billy Ray Cunningham Sr., 48, of 904 E. Calhoun was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on charges of possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, four warrants for no driver's license and warrants for no seat belt and no insurance, after police went to investigate a disturbance, peeked into a home's window and allegedly saw Cunningham sitting on a sofa, rolling a marijuana cigarette. He was released at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 on $2,500 bond.

Enrique Henry Gobellan, 28, of 1014 E. Calhoun was arrested at 6:58 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on charges of possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana, failure to identify - fugitive from justice and possession of drug paraphernalia, two warrants for no insurance, warrants for improper passing, minor in possession of an alcoholic beverage, failure to identify and defective tail lamp and Victoria County warrants for bond forfeiture - driv- intoxicated second offense, bail jumping and failure to appear, and bond forfeiture - failure to identify. He was with Cunningham when police went to investigate the disturbance that led to Cunningham's arrest. Gobellan was held on $11,500 bond as of 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17.

Salvador Mejia Rodriguez, 46, of 111 Shimek was arrested at 8:48 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He allegedly hit a mailbox on CR 362 with his truck, and the homeowner followed him until police caught up with him on North Mechanic. He was released at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17 on $2,000 bond.

Property

Elizabeth Gonzales Khan, 44, of 603 N. Washington was arrested at 3:42 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 on a charge of assault bodily injury - family violence after allegedly hitting a woman. Khan remained in custody at presstime.

Adrian Hernandez, 19, of 406 Mockingbird Lane was arrested at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17 on a warrant for sexual assault of a child. He remained in custody at presstime.

Violence, weapons

Robert Guerrero, 48, of 204 1/2 Bruns was arrested at 4:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 on a charge of criminal trespass. He was transferred to county jail the next day.

Other

A 15-year-old El Campo girl was arrested at 3:04 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 on a Wharton County warrant for probation violation. She was transferred to Victoria County Juvenile Detention Facility the same day.

Juan "Johnny" Manuel Garcia, 27, of 1610 S. Mechanic was arrested at 12:16 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 on two warrants each for violating the teen curfew and disorderly conduct - language, warrants for no bicycle registration, no white light on bicycle and theft under $50, Brazoria County warrants for failure to identify - fugitive from justice, possession of marijuana, no driver's license, violating a promise to appear and failure to signal with turn indicator and charges of public intoxication and walking on the wrong side of the road. He remained in custody at presstime.

Disorderly conduct - language: 1.

Minor assault reports: El Campo area, 1.

City Incidents Property

Lindsey Poenitzch reported credit/debit card abuse totaling $101.25 between Dec. 11 and Dec. 12.

Jail population as of 3 p.m. Monday was 93 prisoners.
