Numerous felons plead guilty in District Court

Previously listed as the El Campo Police Department's Most Wanted man, one local will spend the next five years being closely watched.

Roger Ray Vernon, 51, of 216 Olive pleaded guilty to a theft charge.

District Judge Randy Clapp sentenced him to 30 days behind county bars as well as five years probation.

Vernon also must perform 100 hours of community service and pay $450 restitution.

Those pleading guilty to felony level crimes in Wharton County's 329th District Court and accepting punishment include:

• Jessie Joe Aguilar Jr., 24, of 212 E. Burleson in Wharton for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He was sentenced to seven years in prison with credit for some time already served.

A charge of possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone was set aside as part of the plea bargain agreement.

• Ricky Moreno, 21, of 7111 Kearney in Richmond for burglary of a habitation. He was sentenced to three years in prison with credit for some time already served and ordered to pay $654 restitution.

• Danny Louis Flores, 40, of CR 116 in Lane City for driving while intoxicated. He was placed on four years probation, fined $250 and ordered to perform 120 hours of community service.

As a condition of probation he must serve 33 days in county jail, but has received credit for time already served.

• Andrew Palacios, 22, address unavailable, for two counts of burglary of a building. His probation on the prior conviction was revoked and he was sentenced to six months in state jail with credit for time served.

• John Joseph Miller, 29, of 620 S. Guadalupe in Port Lavaca for possession of marijuana. He was placed on five years probation, fined $250, ordered to pay $250 restitution and perform 120 hours of community service. A charge of endangering a child was set aside as part of the plea bargain agreement.

• Robert Mata Munoz, 59, of West Milam Street in Wharton for possession of a controlled substance. He was placed on two years deferred probation and ordered to pay $250 restitution. With deferred probation, the conviction won't be held against Munoz if he is able to complete all terms.

• Fabian Deshawn Ford, 21, address unavailable, for possession of a controlled substance. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to six months in state jail with credit for time served.

• Gregory Lewis, 49, address unavailable, for theft. He was sentenced to 60 days in county jail and ordered to pay $2,275 restitution. He received credit for time already served.

In a separate court action, his prior conviction for possession of a controlled substance was adjudicated. He was sentenced to 180 days in state jail, but received credit for the full time served.
