Gene L. Schumaker
He was born on Feb. 10, 1933 in Wharton County to Larden Paul and Alice Emma Brod Schumaker. Mr. Schumaker was a lifelong resident of Wharton County. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life. He married Madeline Urbanovsky on Jan. 10, 1972 in Wharton. Mr. Schumaker was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in El Campo. He was an avid domino player and known to be a workaholic. Mr. Schumaker served in the U.S. Army in Germany in the late 1950s. Survivors include his wife, Madeline Schumaker of Wharton; mother, Alice Schumaker of Taiton; sisters, Nora Lee Schumaker and Jeanette Richter both of El Campo and Delores Kasper of Victoria. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Schumaker was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Wharton Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Lopez offi- ciating. Burial followed at the Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in El Campo. Pallbearers were Del (Boogie) Brod, David Castle, Jason Chaka, David Fucik, Tracy Schoelman, Billy Schwertner, Merlin Urbanovsky and Tommy Urbanovsky. Honorary pallbearers were all of his morning coffee drinking friends, hay and cattle auction friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to your favorite church or charity. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home. |
