Swanson earns master's from A&M

CHARLES SWANSON
Charles Lynn Swanson graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, with a masters of agriculture, agriculture systems management degree in the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Swanson has accepted a position with Texas Cooperative Extension Service as an extension associate of urban water resources planning. He will be headquartered in the Biological and Agriculture Engineering Department, Texas A&M University in College Station, with field work and education programs at locations throughout Texas.

While a student at A&M, he was active in the Agriculture Systems Management Club, Texas A&M Chapter; Independent Cattlemen's Association, Texas A&M Chapter; Texas Trophy Hunter's Association, Texas A&M Chapter; Texas A&M Dairy Science Club; and Texas A&M Dairy Judging and Show Teams. Swanson coached the Texas A&M Dairy Judging Team. He served as treasurer of the Texas A&M Dairy Science Club and was a representative of the COALS Student Council. He was chairman of the Ag Systems Management Club.

Swanson was employed at Texas A&M University as a soil and water management teaching assistant under Dr. James Gilley; Cotton Physiology Research Team graduate student worker; Animal Nutrition graduate student worker; herd manager for the Dairy Science Center; and teaching assistant and class lecturer for Dr. Michael Tomaszewski.

Swanson is a 2002 El Campo High School graduate. He is the son of Delbur and Susan Swanson of El Campo.

After graduation Swanson's parents hosted a luncheon at the Czech-Tex Restaurant in Snook for family and friends.
