COURT REPORTS Prison and probationary sentences were ordered to those pleading guilty to felonies ranging from drug possession to deadly conduct during late December action in the 329th District Court. Judge Randy Clapp heard the following guilty pleas: • Shawn Garcia, 17, of 212 Moutray in Wharton for possession of a controlled substance. He was placed on two years deferred probation, fined $250 and ordered to perform 120 hours of community service. Garcia will also have to pay $250 restitution. With deferred probation, the conviction won't be held against Garcia if he is able to complete all terms. • Michael Rene Arismendez, 32, of 1509 Prosperity in El Campo for robbery. He was placed on three years deferred probation and fined $250. • Ramon Bailey, 29, address unavailable, for tampering with physical evidence. He was placed on three years deferred probation on the condition he serve 30 days in county jail. Bailey received credit for time already served. • Jeremy Kyle Peikert, 21, of 545 Forrest Lawn in Wharton for deadly conduct. In exchange for the guilty plea, the case was reduced to a Class A Misdemeanor and he was placed on one year probation. • Esteban Trevino, 43, of 611 E. Monroe in Rio Grande City for criminal attempt (attempted money laundering). In exchange for the guilty plea, the case was reduced to a Class A Misdemeanor and he was sentenced to 34 days in county jail. Trevino received credit for time already served. A charge of unlawful use of a criminal instrument was dropped as part of the plea bargain agreement. • John Morgan Williams Jr., 26, address unavailable, for possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison with credit for 120 days already served. In exchange for the guilty plea, charges of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, two counts of assault of a public servant and one count of escape were set aside. • Jim Leroy Phillips, 49, of 909 Ave. C in El Campo for three counts of possession of a controlled substance. He pleaded guilty to one charge and his earlier two convictions were adjudicated. Phillips was sentenced to 20 years in prison with credit for 57 days already served. • Victor Sodia, 43, of 2726 E. Alabama in Wharton for possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to six months in state jail and ordered to pay $250 restitution. Sodia received credit for time already served. In a separate court action, his prior conviction for burglary of a building was adjudicated and he was placed on five years probation. • Anthony Adrian Rosiles, age unavailable, of 111 W. Alfred in El Campo for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was placed on two years probation on the condition he serve 30 days in county jail. Rosiles was also ordered to pay $1,551.10 restitution. He received credit for time already served. • Stuart Obrian Nichols, 33, of 1743 FM 2614 in Eagle Lake for evading arrest or detention. He was placed on two years probation, fined $200 and ordered to perform 180 hours community service. • Juana Louisa Sanchez, 32, address unavailable for endangering a child. She was placed on five years deferred probation, fined $250 and ordered to perform 60 hours of community service. • Malcolm Smith Sr., 42, off 6622 FM 1161 in Wharton for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was placed on four years deferred probation and fined $250. Seven other counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon were dropped as part of the plea agreement. Smith had initially been accused of threatening eight people with a shotgun. • Rachel Bowman, 39, of 1807 Ave. C #B in El Campo for theft. She was placed on three years deferred probation and ordered to pay $4,432.31 restitution. • Julian Quevedo Garcia, 35, of 705 Marionette in El Campo for tampering with a governmental record - a Social Security card. He was placed on two years deferred probation, fined $200 and ordered to perform 80 hours of community service. • Tomas Rene Cordova, 21, address unavailable, for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was placed on 30 months deferred probation, ordered to pay $1,100 restitution and perform 60 hours community service. |
