Isabel Rutherford

Isabel Rutherford, 81, of El Campo, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007.

She was born on May 31, 1926 in Wharton to Benjamin and Violet Ricks Socolofsky. Mrs. Rutherford was an elementary and junior high teacher for 35 years having retired in 1986, and was a member of the Wharton County Retired Teachers Association. She was a volunteer and also served on the board of the Blessing Cup, a member of the Baptist Women, a Sunday school teacher and also a member of the First Baptist Church Choir for 64 years.

Survivors include her sons, Steven Rutherford and wife Lynn of Cypress and Walter Rutherford and wife Terry of El Campo; grandchildren, Lerin Rutherford, Wesley Rutherford, Shawna Wied and husband Kevin, and Shannon Rutherford; and nephew, Bob Rutherford of Midwest City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilson Rutherford; and infant brother, Benjamin.

Visitation will be today, Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 11 a.m. at Triska Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 27 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Dubroc officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Triska Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Noel Fuller, Rodney Montello, Walter Rutherford, Kevin Wied, Dan Tice, and Wesley Rutherford.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lynn Rutherford, Terry Rutherford, Lerin Rutherford, Steven Rutherford, Shawna Wied, and Shannon Rutherford.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church or Hospice Inc.
