Volleyball success garners Louise state-wide honors
By KRIS BAGLEY sports@leader-news.com

SARAH WILLIAMSON
Louise is beginning to enjoy a bit of royal treatment. Championship performances often garner high praise and Louise's volleyball team is no exception.

After finishing as district champions with a 10-0 record and advancing to the third round of the playoffs, sports writers from around the state are giving the Lady Hornets their due.

Sarah Williamson, Kirsten Machicek and Lauren Gresham are among the members of the Texas Sports Writers Association/Collin Street Bakery 2007 All-State Volleyball Teams.

The TSWA votes every year on the best volleyball players in all classifications based on statistics and overall team success. In Class A, 50 individuals were nominated including 35 outside hitters and middle blockers, nine setters and six liberos.

The teams are limited to seven members, which include five outside hitters and middle blockers, one setter and one libero, except for honorable mention, which has only three outside hitters and middle blockers, one setter and two liberos.

Williamson, a senior, led the Lady Hornets in honors with a second-team selection. She was selected because of 602 kills, 30 aces and 18 blocks.

LAUREN GRESHAM
Machicek was named as setter for the third team. As a sophomore, she had 1,312 assists and 18 aces.

Gresham, a senior, received honorable mention because of her 175 digs.
