Garage Sale Benefits Youth Camp A garage sale to benefit Faith Lutheran's Youth so they can go to camp will be today at 2106 Nancy Lou, from 8 a.m. until noon. Items available will be a refrigerator, blankets, clothes, TV, stair-stepper and lots more.

Fried Chicken Dinner and Raffle St. Philip Youth will sponsor their annual fried chicken dinner and raffle Sunday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. with plates to-go only at the parish hall on Depot Street. Dinner to Honor Pastor Laird Engle The public is invited to an enchilada dinner honoring Pastor Laird Engle Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Danevang Community Hall following the 10 a.m. worship service. Pastor Engle is retiring and Jan. 6 will be his last service at Danevang Lutheran.

Habitat For Humanity Meeting The West Wharton County Habitat for Humanity steering committee meets Tuesday, Jan. 8 and Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church in El Campo. CPR and FAB Classes

The American Red Cross will host the following health and safety courses: Adult class on Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 6-10 p.m., Infant and child on Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 5-10 p.m. and First Aid Basic on Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 6-10 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 3000 9th Street in Bay City. The cost of each course is $22. Certification for CPR classes is valid for one year. Minimum of six participants required. For information call the American Red Cross office at 979-245-3056.

Hot Dog/Frito Pie Lunch Fundraiser The Lifesavers Relay for Life Team from Mid Coast Medical Clinic and El Campo Memorial Hospital host a fundraiser lunch Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Superior Motor Parts parking lot from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. or sold out. Hot dog, chips and drink for $2.50 or Frito pie and drink for $2.50. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

American Legion & Auxiliary Meeting American Legion Craig-Harriss Post 251 and its Ladies Auxiliary hold their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the hall beginning with a social at 6:30 p.m. and meal served at 7:15 p.m. Ladies Auxiliary members are responsible for the meal.

Volunteers Needed to Judge Speech/Drama The El Campo High School Speech and Drama Club is seeking volunteers to judge various acting, speaking, and debate events for their annual tournament to be held Jan. 18-19 at El Campo High School. There will be an informal question-and-answer session for anyone who would like to judge but is unsure how on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 7-8 p.m. at the high school seminar room. Account Set Up For Medical Expenses An account to help with medical expenses has been set up for Tommy Johnson Sr. at Commercial State Bank. Also a benefit dance, stew supper and auction will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 starting at 4 p.m. at Muldoon's Saloon and Steakhouse. Tommy Johnson is a retired Texas Game Warden and current Special Ranger for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raiser's Association. Raffle tickets are available at the Wharton County Sheriff's Office, Ryan Services at 543-3703, R&R Printing, R&M Firearms, D-A-M Services or at the Farmers Coop of El Campo.

Erwin/Williamson Account Set Up Funds have been established at The First State Banks of Louise and El Campo for Robbie Erwin and Garrett Williamson. All proceeds will be used for medical bills. They were injured in a Christmas Eve automobile accident.

To All WCYF Turkey Exhibitors Turkeys ordered by WCYF exhibitors will be delivered Tuesday, Jan. 15. Pick up birds at the Crescent Fairgrounds main office complex between 4-6 p.m. Be sure to have your pens, feed, water containers, lights, etc. ready to receive your baby poults. EMS Quarterly Blood Drive El Campo EMS will host its quarterly blood drive Monday, Jan. 28 from noon-6 p.m. at the El Campo Fire Department building, 220 Merchant. Call to schedule or reserve your time. Blood is needed for Abrianna Rodriguez, age 3 who was recently diagnosed as a hemophiliac. She is scheduled for surgery Thursday, Jan. 10 at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. Abrianna will need blood prior, during and after surgery. You can give blood in her name. Help Needed Restoring 1952 Tractor The Louise FFA Senior Ag Mechanics Team is restoring a 1952 John Deere Model G tractor donated by Keith Bain. Spay/Neuter Assistance Available The Matagorda County SPCA has a program to help financially disadvantaged people in Wharton, Jackson, Matagorda and the southern part of Colorado County get their dogs or cats spayed or neutered. Veterans Service Officer Hours The office of Wharton County Veterans Service Officer Harvey H. Stelzel Jr. is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Jan. 30. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. The office is located at 1017 N. Alabama Road in Wharton. Phone 532-1311.

Derby Doll Boosters Selling Bricks The Derby Doll Booster Club is still selling engraved bricks to be placed in front of the new practice gym on the high school campus. These bricks may be in memory of someone of in honor of someone who is a past or present student at the high school. Bricks range in price from $40-$50.
