City Arrests Alcohol, drugs

Jesus Manuel Martinez, 18, of 211 Higbee was arrested at 9:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 on a charge of possession of 2 ounces or less of marijuana and warrants for failure to appear, theft and public intoxication. He was transferred to Wharton County Jail the next day and held on $5,000 bond at presstime.

Michael Anthony Pruett, 39, of Palacios was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 on a charge of driving while intoxicated - second offense. He was convicted of intoxication assault with a vehicle - serious bodily injury in February 2006. He was transferred to county jail the next day.

Jose Nicolas Delagua, 38, of 723 Alice Ave. was arrested at 6:27 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 on charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to identify and no driver's license. He was released at 9:20 a.m. Sunday on $7,500 bond.

Sergio Israel Lara-Brito, 19, of 114 Navidad in Ganado was arrested at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1 on charges of minor driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance and no driver's license after running a flashing red light. He was released the same day after paying $816.25 in fines.

Property

Abby Ann Rocha Cardoza, 20, of 910 Flax was arrested at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 on a charge of criminal mischief. She remained in custody at presstime.

Janet Vyvial Harvey, 60, of 101 W. Sixth was arrested at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 on a warrant for issuance of a bad check. She was released the same day after paying a $162.50 fine.

Sanjuanita Tovar Lopez, 44, of 1108 Wright was arrested at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2 on five warrants for issuance of a bad check. She was released the same day after paying $2,250.31 in fines.

Violence, weapons

Kris Eric Helton, 23, of 208 W. Watt was arrested at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 on a charge of assault and a warrant for violating the driver's license restriction for CDL intrastate commerce only. He was released the same day after paying $733.53 in fines.

Jose Juan Olvera, 24, of 702 Divide was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4 on charges of resisting arrest, search or transport, public intoxication and disorderly conduct - language. Dispatched to the report of an intoxicated man, an officer reportedly found Olvera in a ditch on West Railroad. Olvera reportedly struggled with officers when they attempted to arrest him and was pepper sprayed. He remained in custody at presstime.

Other

Clyde Johnell Gary, 42, of Sugar Land was arrested at 10:14 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28 on warrants for failure to appear and unsafe speed. He remained in custody at presstime.

Jose Manuel Cardoza, 22, of 910 Flax was arrested at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 on warrants for failure to appear, expired driver's license, no seat belt and public intoxication. He remained in custody at presstime.

Jail population as of noon Thursday, Jan. 3 was 93 prisoners.
