Music fills the air with students' performance

Vickey Brooks' students performed Christmas carols at the Czech Home for the Aged in Hillje Dec. 28. Faye Swift, pianist, opened the program with "Silent Night," "Joy to the World" and "I'd Rather Have Jesus." Her sister and friend joined in singing with her. Kortney Vitera performed "Away in a Manger" and "Jingle Bells"

on piano. Pianist Krystana Stavinoha played "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy," "Silent Night" and a duet of the "First Noel" with Ms. Brooks.

On piano, Ginny Peters played Schubert's "Ave Maria" while Emily Peters performed "The First Advent of Our King." Tyshira Ceasar, also on piano, played "Up on the Housetop" and Ms. Brooks performed "The Coventry Carol" with "What Child Is This."

Children also sang Christmas carols for the residents, ending the program with "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."

Brook's students performed for other holiday events: the open houses for the Wharton County Library, NewFirst National Bank and Prosperity Bank.

Participating were Tabitha Beard, Payton Saha, Abbie Holder, Chloe Jenkins, Victoria and Britain Zalman, Krystana Stavinoha, Katelyn and Bethany Wood, Faye Swift, Nicholas Cavallo, Blake Justice, Emily Wilkins, Jack Wilkins, Margret, Nathan and Morgan Nance, Kortney Vitera, Trini Gonzalez, Sarah, Rebekah, Scott and Elizabeth Malachowski, Megan, Mark and Matthew Thonsgaard, Joey Prochazka, Bethany and Breanne Rodriguez, Jadacia Glover, Titania Baylor, Julian Senca, Megan Stovall, Jackie Gibbons and Emily and Ginny Peters.
