Daphne Nix

Daphne Louise Richardson Nix, 92, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 with pheumonia at 2:06 a.m.

Daphne was born Aug. 28, 1915 in El Campo. She graduated from El Campo High School, earned her bachelor's degree from Texas State College for Women and her master's degree from Sul Ross College in Alpine.

Daphne became a school teacher and taught sixth grade in El Campo for the majority of her 26 years in teaching. She was active in the First Presbyterian Church of El Campo where she taught Sunday school, was a member of The Women of the Church, The Womens' Circle, The Womens' Bible Study group and an elder in the Church.

Survivors include her son, Richard Nix and wife Charlene; niece, Janice Keller and husband Robert and their children, Paul and Leslie, along with Paul's son Ethan and Leslie's husband Todd Tucker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Nix; father, Leo Richardson; mother, Maude Redwine Richardson; and her sister, Alice Richardson Glass.

A private burial service will precede the memorial service which will be today, Saturday, Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Northcutt officiating.

Memorial donations in memory of Daphne Nix may be made to First Presbyterian Church of El Campo.
