Gospel artist offering free concert
Jerry Bennett completes recording project with Candy Christmas

The Texas Gospel Music Barn invites everyone to a gospel music concert featuring Jerry Bennett of Nashville, Tenn.

The concert will be held at the Bay City Railroad Depot, 2620 Ave. G, in Bay City, on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Bennett began his music career as a teenager. In 1995, he co-wrote a song, "My God Forgets," which the Kingsmen took to the top of the gospel music charts. Bennett was recognized with nominations for "Song of the Year."

In 1996, he became program director for Gospel Music Television. He was also featured singing with other nationally known gospel artists on GMT.

In 1999, Bennett was presented with the opportunity to travel with the nationally known group The Freemans.

In late 2000, he decided to concentrate on a solo ministry and has been ministering all across the United States since then.

Bennett has had numerous songs on the Singing News Charts for Southern Gospel Music nationwide over the past couple of years.

His latest release to radio is "Pour It On." He is also assisting in the ministry with Gaither Homecoming Artists, The Hemphills and Candy Hemphill Christmas in a ministry to the homeless in Nashville.

They hold services every Tuesday night under the Jefferson Street Bridge in Nashville and feed more than 200 homeless people.

Bennett just finished a new recording project in which he teams with Candy Christmas on one of the cuts on his new project "Seasons of Reflection."

His producer, Kevin McManus, states that "every song on this project could be a radio hit for Jerry."

His first radio release, "Oil and Wine" made it into the top 50 on the Singing News charts for more than four months in 2007.
