Wharton Pilot Club gives program on 'Brain Minders Members of the Wharton County Retired Teachers met Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1717 Pioneer, in Wharton. Forty-four members were present. The meeting was called to order by President Henriette Jalow. Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited by all. The minutes of the previous meeting were presented by secretary Dana Riley and approved. The treasurer's report was presented by Donald Lorfing, who reported the chapter has 239 retired members but only 196 have paid their membership dues. Jason Shirley, district manager of member benefits of Texas Retired Teachers gave a short report on special services offered to the retirees. The Pilot Club of Wharton gave a short program on "Brain Minders for Seniors." The next meeting will be held in East Bernard at 10:30 a.m., March 5 at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 421 Pietzsch. Loretta Craft gave the blessing prior to the catered buffet luncheon. |
