Two requests on agenda at P&Z meeting

A subdivision of Wal-Mart's West Loop property and a home building request will go before El Campo Planning & Zoning commissioners when they meet today.

Wal-Mart is requesting to subdivide 1.23 acres from its land on the West Loop although they have not announced a planned use for the section.

The proposed lot fronts the West Loop and is just south of the land formerly used by a service station.

P&Z meets at 5 p.m. today in City Council Chambers, 315 E. Jackson. The meeting is open to the public.

Also before commissioners is a proposed zoning change at 1019 Divide. The Elloyd Canales family wants to build a home there, but the property is currently zoned C-2, or General Commercial, which prohibits residential use. The Canales family is requesting the 3.78 acres of land be changed to C-1, or Light Commercial, to allow for construction.
