Frank Konvicka
He was born on Nov. 29, 1925 in Fayetteville to Frank Vencil and Mary Malek Konvicka. Mr. Konvicka was a longtime resident of Hungerford, attending school in Wharton. Frank was married to Elsie Mae Sabrsula on Oct. 16, 1946 in Hungerford and they had one son Michael. She preceded Frank in death on Dec. 21, 1995. He then married Bettie Merta Priesmeyer on Feb. 13, 1999 at St. Philip's Catholic Church in El Campo. Frank worked as the Tax Assessor's Collector for Wharton County for many years. He also worked at the ASCS office and was a farmer and rancher for numerous years. Frank enjoyed his garden, loved to hunt and fish, was active in a bowling league during his younger years and enjoyed tinkering in the garage. Frank was a member of the Wharton Knights of Columbus, the Wharton Lions Club, the Hungerford Volunteer Fire Department and St. Philip Catholic Church. A Rosary was recited Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Friday Jan. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church in El Campo with Father Gary Janak officiating with Deacon Jarrel Nohavitza assisting. Interment followed at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Hungerford. Pallbearers were Ben Altenhoff, Rick Priesmeyer, Randy Sabrsula, Stanley Konvicka Jr., John Polasek and Robert Konvicka. Survivors include his wife, Bettie Konvicka of El Campo, son; Michael Konvicka and wife Cindy of Hungerford; stepsons, Wayne Priesmeyer and wife Barbara of El Campo and Rick Priesmeyer of El Campo; step-daughters, Linda Irby and husband Randy of Richmond, Gayle Rohan of Portland and Lisa Altenhoff and husband Ben of El Campo; sisters, Lillian Brod and husband Daniel of Wharton and Mary Ann Polasek and husband Theo of Montgomery; brothers, Bennie Konvicka and wife Helen of Wharton, Edward Konvicka of Boling, Stanley Konvicka and wife Bessie of Wharton; and his in laws; Julius Smolik and wife Hilda of Wharton and Edmund Sabrsula and wife Berniece of Sugar Land; ten step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and many family friends. Memorial contributions can be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Texas Gulf Chapter, 5005 Mitchelldale, Suite 115, Houston, Texas 77092-7230 or to the Charity of your Choice. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home. |
