The board of directors of the El Campo Heritage Center reminds people that there are still bricks available to purchase for $100. Western Rice Belt Conference The Western Rice Belt Conference Consumers Program (Ladies Rice Clinic) is today at the El Campo Civic Center. Ladies' registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The program begins at 9 a.m. This year's theme is "Rice - the Grain of Champions."

Health Care Information Night Health care information night is tonight at 6 p.m. at the Northside Education Center, 707 Fahrenthold. Information concerning nursing, CNA classes, medical terminology classes, billing coding and much more. Question and answer time concerning your health care education plans.

Louise ATPE Sells Fried Chicken Plates The Louise ATPE is selling fried chicken dinners today from 4:30-6 p.m. at Staff's Food Service. Plates are $6.50 and proceeds benefit local scholarships. For tickets call 543-6237 and leave a message.

St. Philip School Read-A-Thon Begins St. Philip Catholic School's annual Read-A-Thon started today and ends Friday, Feb. 8. Awards assembly is Friday, Feb. 22 at 1:45 p.m. at the Parish Hall. The committee meets at 10 a.m. Friday. Friday, Jan. 25 is a Kickoff Rally at 2:30 in the Parish Hall. To donate a prize call St. Philip School at 543-2901 or Kim Socha at 543-1371.

Family Literacy Classes Family literacy classes for adults and children are Thursday, Jan. 24 at Hutchins Elementary. Classes are from 6-8 p.m. Babysitting and transportation will be provided if needed.

Open Horse Show at WCYF Jan. 26 Boots & Bridle 4-H hosts an Open Horse Show Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Wharton County Youth Fair arena in Crescent. There will be 30 classes offered, including Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, Showmanship and Speed events. The three age divisions are 12 and under, 13-18 and 19 and over with high point belt buckles for all age divisions. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with events starting at 9 a.m. Fees are $10 per class or $50 for all day. Alumnae Panhellenic Sorority Meeting The Texas Gulf Coast Alumnae Panhellenic Association was formed to promote the ideals and leadership opportunities offered to college girls through the sorority system. Alumnae of sororities are invited to the next meeting Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church in Wharton. ECHS Junior Class Meal Fundraiser The ECHS Junior Class hosts a meal Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 5-6:30 p.m. Pick up will be at the ECHS cafeteria. The meal will consist of Mikeska's barbecue and sausage. Plates are $6.75. For tickets call any Junior Class member or call the guidance office at 543-2871.

El Campo Little League Sign-Up It's not to late to sign up your child or children for Little League. Registration is going on until Thursday, Jan. 31. Go by All-Star Sports-N-Things and pick up registration forms, fill them out and leave the paperwork with the payment. T-ball, 5-6 year olds are $50 and everyone else is $60. LVFD Hosts Stag Stew Supper The Louise Volunteer Fire Department hosts a Stag Stew Supper Friday, Feb. 1 from 6 p.m. until midnight at the Louise Fire Department. Save 3 Lives Blood Drive St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church hosts "Save Three Lives, All In A Day's Work" blood drive Sunday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Parish Hall. The blood drive will benefit the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Blood Bank.

'Cuts For Cancer' Feb. 10 Hair Salons interested in participating in the 13th Annual Wharton County Cuts For Cancer should contact Hair Enterprises as soon as possible at 543-7757. This year's Cuts For Cancer is Sunday, Feb. 10. Licensed volunteers are asked to donate their time, at their own salons, cutting hair at regular prices and all proceeds for that day are donated to the American Cancer Society.

Senior Class of 2007 Yearbook You may now stop by the ECHS office and pick up your 2007 yearbook. If you have not yet purchased one, extra copies are available for $70.

El Campo EMS Quarterly Blood Drive El Campo EMS sponsors its quarterly blood drive Monday, Jan. 28 from noon-6 p.m. at the El Campo Fire Department building, 220 Merchant. Call to schedule or reserve a time. Blood is needed for Abrianna Rodriguez, age 3, who was recently diagnosed as a hemophiliac. She is scheduled for surgery Thursday, Jan. 10 at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. Abrianna will need blood prior, during and after surgery. Blood can be given in her name. Spay/Neuter Assistance Available The Matagorda County SPCA has a program to help financially disadvantaged people in Wharton, Jackson, Matagorda and the southern part of Colorado County get their dogs or cats spayed or neutered. 'Experience El Campo' Now Online Experience El Campo - 2007, the magazine produced by the El Campo Leader-News staff in cooperation with the El Campo Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, is now online at www.experienceelcampo.com. The Chamber and newspaper are currently wrapping up writing and production on the 2008 edition of the magazine, which will be distributed starting in February. Many local business Web sites will have the online edition of the magazine.

WCYF Creative Arts Entries Due All Creative Arts entries for the 2008 WCYF are due by Friday, Feb. 1. Entries must be postmarked by the deadline date and mailed to the WCYF Office, PO Box 167, Glen Flora, TX 77443, or hand-delivered to the Fair Office.
