      El Campo ISD's new high school practice gym is not quite finished after all. The practice gym and the new middle school on FM 2765 both came about as the result of a $19.9 million bond package approved in 2005.

      There were only two days when temperatures hit 100 degrees. The lowest temperature was 27. And of two tropical storms that struck the Texas coast, neither had a significant effect locally. When it comes to the weather, things were pretty uneventful for Wharton in 2007.

City supports county flood mitigation plan
      El Campo City Council did its part to boost Wharton County's chances to receive federal grant dollars for flood mitigation during its first January meeting. Council unanimously approved a resolution supporting the Wharton County Flood Mitigation Plan.
