Jr. Fair board announces deadline dates for WCYF Members of the Wharton County Youth Fair Junior Fair board conducted their first meeting of the year at the fairgrounds director's room on Monday, Jan. 21. Current officers are: President Laura Reyna, Vice President Trey Kulak, Secretary Sara Lopez and Treasurer Haley Hubenak. Area reporters are Shelby Cooper for El Campo, Hannah Krenek for Boling, Amanda Popp for Louise, Ashley Smith for Wharton and Seth Polts for East Bernard. Scheduled workdays to clean the fairgrounds and prepare for the fair are Saturday, April 5 and Saturday, April 19. Weekly work nights will begin every Wednesday evening beginning the end of January. The progress show is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23 and the Junior Fair board members will provide a concession stand. The ad sales for the souvenir book were very successful and Grace Glaze thanked all members for their hard work. A total of 248 advertisements were sold. Paper work for Creative Arts is due Feb. 1 and the deadline for the Queen's contest is Feb. 14. Members were also reminded their parents are required to work a minimum of 3 hours for every child participating in the fair. Musical entertainment for the fair was announced. On Thursday night The Emotions will be in the main arena and on Friday, Aces over Eights will open for Right Remedy, a new and upcoming band. |
