'Birds fall to Spartan's attack

      The Ricebirds fell in a close basketball game Tuesday to Seven Lakes. Seven Lakes finished with a 5916 win over El Campo, but the final score does not indicate the spirit and athleticism both teams played with throughout the night.

LHS girls lose game to Shiner
      The Lady Hornets have had a tough start to their district basketball season. After falling to Flatonia 38-17 Jan. 15 in the first game, Louise has lost to Moulton and Shiner for an 0-3 start. The good news for Louise fans is that the team may be working out of their scoring slump.

EC swimmers earn Winter Game medals
      Ten Red Wave swimmers came home from the 2008 Winter Games of Texas a little heavier than they left. Weighed down by gold, silver and bronze, El Campo's swimmers brought back 28 total medals from the event held Jan. 19 in Frisco.

Hornets run over Shiner Comanches
      Tuesday was a great start to district basketball play for the Hornets. Louise traveled to Shiner and came home after a convincing 78-37 win. The victory put the Hornets at 1-0 in District 29-A. By the first quarter, the game was already in hand for the Hornets.
