      The first step in holding an election to create a Wharton County Emergency District No. 2 to fund the operations of the East Bernard EMS Department was completed Monday with the delivery of petitions requesting a May 10 election.

      City Arrests Alcohol, drugs Adam Christopher Gilbert, 26, of Athens, Ga. was arrested at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 on a charge of driving while intoxicated (second offense). He was released at 11:15 a.m. the same day on $5,000 bond.
