WCYF pageant entry forms due Feb. 14
Any female enrolled in a Wharton County high school as a freshman, sophomore or junior is eligible to enter the contest. Contestants must be in compliance with "No pass, no play" regulations at the time of entry and during the contest, and must not have been married or have had a child. There is a $35 entry fee for each contestant and any club, fraternal, religious group, business, civic, school organization or individual is eligible to sponsor a contestant. There is a mandatory meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the Wharton County Fairgrounds in the directors' room of the new office complex. Publicity photos will be taken at the meeting and season passes handed out. A parent or guardian must attend this meeting with the contestant. The contest will be held in conjunction with the Wharton County Youth Fair & Exposition on Sunday, May 4. The contestant chosen as queen will receive a $500 scholarship, crown, belt buckle, trophy and prizes. The first runner-up will receive a $300 scholarship, trophy and prizes; second runner-up will receive a $200 scholarship, trophy and prizes; and third and fourth runners-up will receive trophies and prizes. Queen of Ticket Sales will receive a $250 scholarship and trophy. Directors' Award recipient will receive a $250 scholarship, belt buckle and various prizes, and Miss Congeniality will receive a trophy. Work nights for the Directors' Award will be Wednesdays at the WCYF fairgrounds.
