Annual Czech spring fest to benefit library

The Czech Heritage Society of Texas, Harris County Chapter is sponsoring its annual festival to support the CHS Library and Archives located at 4117 Willowbend in Houston.

The event will be held Sunday, March 30 at SPJST Lodge No. 88, 1435 Beall St., in the Heights area of Houston.

Starting at 11 a.m. a traditional Sunday dinner will be served until 2 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 for adults, children under 10 are $5.50.

After 2 p.m. sausage with sauerkraut and Czech noodle soup will be available. Admission to the event is $6 per person, children 10 and under get in free.

Music will be provided by The

Kovanda Czech Band and The Krenek Orchestra featuring the hammer dulcimer.

Vendors will be selling their wares and several cultural booths will have displays of Czech/Slovak cultural items.

A guest artist

will demonstrate

the art of decorating gingerbread cookies. Young dancers will perform folk dances of old Czechoslovakia.
