Clinic growth, renovations sign El Campo sustains its growth

This past Thursday, I was treated to a tour of one of El Campo's mostfrequented and yet possibly best-kept secrets. The Mid Coast Medical Clinic has recently completed its 6,000- square-foot expansion project and celebrated it with an open house social.

El Campo Memorial Hospital board members graciously visited with area residents and guided them on tours throughout the facility.

We were excited to learn that our clinic and hospital staff will soon be bringing in additional physicians in such needed areas as dialysis and general family practice.

Unfortunately, many of us are guilty of overlooking the significance and importance of having our own local hospital and the adjacent clinic that work in conjunction with one another.

Through dedication and hard work of local individuals, financial support from the City Development Corporation, and the gracious gifts of numerous nonprofit foundations such as the M.G. and Lillie A. Johnson Foundation, your local El Campo Medical Foundation has raised more than $500,000 to help defray the cost of this incredible renovation and remodeling project.

In addition, El Campo's locally owned Polasek Construction served as the general contractor on the project that was started back in June of 2006.

Along with the medical team and support staff employed by the Mid Coast Medical Clinic, El Campo Memorial Hospital is home to a number of other doctors, surgeons and specialists who are licensed to practice in the areas of surgery, radiology and cardiology, to name a few.

In addition, your hospital provides consulting physicians in the realms of neurology, orthopedics, pediatrics, psychiatry and other sought after medical fields.

Including the aforementioned health care providers, numerous other local medical professionals call El Campo home and provide their services to local and area residents.

A visitor into our great city will not have to travel far when searching for a dermatologist, dentist, optometrist or pediatrician.

We are blessed to have a number a medical offices and clinics located throughout the various regions of our city. As energy prices rise, and our country continues to face some economic trials, El Campo residents continue to work hard to sustain our current economic growth and development. Whether it is new shopping centers, a new middle school, or renovations to an existing medical clinic, our city is significantly improving its number of viable assets and attributes that will certainly attract additional new residents and business opportunities.

When searching for a new home or business location, many prospective buyers place the availability of medical services in the their high priority list along with great schools, restaurants, retail centers, modern utilities and emergency services.
