Brooks students qualify for state solo & ensemble competition

Students of Vickey Brooks participated in the 2008 solo and ensemble contest held in Needville Feb. 1-2.

Sarah Langston, daughter of Karen Kight and a senior at El Campo High School, received a class one rating on her piano solo Haydn's Sonata in G Major, the Allegro Movement. This is the third time she has qualified for state solo and ensemble. She has studied eight years with Brooks.

Blake Justice, son of Cheri Cavallo and a junior at El Campo High School, received a class one rating on his piano solo Golliwogg's Cake Walk from Debussy's Children Corner. This is the third time he has qualified for state solo and ensemble. He has studied with Brooks for eight years.

Emily Hulsey received a class one rating on her piano solo Haydn's Sonata in C, the Finale Movement. She is the daughter of Lisa Johnson and a freshman at Louise High School. This is Emily's first time to qualify for state solo an ensemble contest. She has taken music lessons from Brooks for six months.

The state solo and ensemble contest will take place in May.
