'Cuts For Cancer' Sunday Afternoon

Funds Raised For Ranger Tommy Johnson Sr. A benefit dance, stew supper and auction starts today at 4 p.m. at Muldoon's Saloon and Steakhouse. Tommy Johnson Sr. is a retired Texas Game Warden and current Special Ranger for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raiser's Association. Raffle tickets are available at the Wharton County Sheriff's Office, Ryan Services, R&R Printing, R&M Firearms, D-A-M Services or at the Farmers Coop of El Campo. An account to help with medical expenses has been set up for Tommy Johnson Sr. at Commercial State Bank.

Louise Band Boosters Garage Sale Louise Band Booster Club hosts a garage sale at 2813 Meadow Lane today from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Funds raised will help send the students to DisneyWorld.

Fibromyalgia Support Group Meeting The Wharton Fibromyalgia Support Group meets today at the main branch of the Wharton Public Library from 10:30 a.m.-noon in the Harrison Conference Room. All those with or interested in fibromyalgia are welcome to attend. The topic this month is: Stress and Chronic Pain; What is the Connection? What can you do to control the pain? Cub Scout Cake Auction Monday Cub Scout Pack 196 holds its annual bake sale and auction Monday, Feb. 11 at the American Legion. Republican DA Candidates Forum The Wharton County Republican Party will host a candidate forum Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Wharton Civic Center. Republican DA candidates Dawn Allison and Josh McCown will field questions during the forum and all local Republican Party candidates will have an opportunity to address the voters. The forum is free and open to the public.

'Girls of Grace' Conference The Girls of Grace conference, featuring via satellite the gospel group Point of Grace, will be shown at Faith Lutheran Church Saturday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. The conference will cover topics for girls on how to live their lives the way God wants them to. It will discuss boys, dating, marriage, clothing, parents, friends and more. IMUD Board of Directors Meeting Due to a conflict in schedules, the Isaacson Municipal Utility District Board of Directors regular meeting, set for Thursday, Feb. 14 has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at the IMUD office, located at 403 N. Liberty in El Campo. The IMUD office will be closed Monday, Feb. 18 in observance of President's Day.

Make plans now to attend the First United Methodist Church's Father/ Daughter Valentine Dance Saturday, Feb. 16 from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. at the church Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $25 for father-daughter or father-figure couple; tickets are $5 for each additional daughter. Fathers and daughters of all ages are invited to attend, and Sunday attire is suggested. Babe Ruth League Registration Wharton Babe Ruth League Registration dates for players ages 13-18 is Saturday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 24 from 2-5 p.m. at the Wharton High School baseball field. Seniors/Parents Complete FAFSA Form There will be a representative from WCJC's guidance office Tuesday, Feb. 19, and March 4 and 11 to answer questions and offer help to seniors and their parents in completing the FAFSA form. Relay For Life Needs Short Stories The Relay For Life "Life Savers" are requesting short stories about individuals lives. Send your stories to dmikeska@ecmh.org or mail to El Campo Memorial Hospital, 303 Sandy Corner Road, El Campo, TX 77437. Simply write one page or less about life long ago, growing up, special times, special remembrances, etc. This does not have to be a long detailed story (short and simple will work). Stories will be published in booklets and sold as a Relay For Life fundraiser benefiting cancer survivors. Include your name, address and phone number on all stories submitted.
