Couple receive weekend trip for 50th anniversary

Jim and Annie Drastata of El Campo were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary by their daughter and son-in-law Ramona and Doug Krenek, and grandchildren with a get-away to Galveston this past weekend. Their grandchildren are Rachel, Stephen, Matthew, David, Anna and Therese Krenek.

When Jim Drastata and Annie Liska married Feb. 11, 1958, it snowed on their wedding day. The couple have lived in El Campo since that time. He is a retired farmer and rancher and she is a housewife.

The weekend included a stay at Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center.

The couple was given a special anniversary blessing after celebrating Mass at St. Mary Cathedral Basilica in Galveston, the first cathedral in Texas.

The weekend also included a tour of the Rainforest Pyramid and the Aquarium at Moody Gardens plus an evening of dining at Willie G's Steak and Seafood House.

A memorable weekend was enjoyed by all.
