Youth do well in horse judging event; Jeane places 12 in 187

The El Campo FFA and the Saddle Club 4-H horse judging teams traveled to the San Antonio Stock Show to compete Thursday, Feb. 7.

There were 678 total participants who judged as individuals and as teams.

Contestants judged four mare and gelding halter classes as well as performance classes in reining, horsemanship, English equitation and hunter under saddle.

All members of the local teams did well, but the highlight for the group was Jillian Jeane's placement of 12th out of 187 in the junior individual standings.

FFA team members who judged in San Antonio were Darcey Vesely, Shayla Smith, Corrine Lurker and Montana Pietsch.

4-H team members were Meredith Jeane, Jillian Jeane, Shea Slattery and Taylor Cook. Both teams are coached by Daphne Gordon.
