4-H CLUB NEWS

Hillje-Louise 4-H Club

Hillje-Louise 4-H Club members gathered Monday, Feb. 11 at Wharton County Electric Coop.

President Kelsey Supak called the meeting to order. Colleen Mauch recited the pledge to the flag and Megan Socha recited the 4-H pledge. Socha also gave the treasurer's report.

Reports on fair projects and creative arts entries were then given by each member.

Mark, Matthew and Megan Thonsgaard and leader Robin Thonsgaard gave a demonstration on making lap robes for the local nursing home. Each participant provided information on different steps in completing the lap robe, fabric designs, choosing patterns and tools used. The fashion show was discussed and members will meet to begin this project.

Kelsey Supak reported on the County Council meeting she attended Jan. 28 in Wharton. Adeline Kasper reported on the parent adult leaders meeting held the same day.

Project records were discussed, noting the importance of obtaining credit for fair projects that are completed.

Important dates were announced. The roaster pick up at the Wharton County Youth Fair was Wednesday, Feb. 13. County Round-Up is set for Thursday, Feb. 21 and fashion show entries are due Friday, Feb. 29.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m., Monday, March 10 at WCEC.

Saddle 4-H Club

Saddle 4-H Club members met Monday, Feb. 11 at the Ozarka Building in El Campo. The meeting was called to order by Shelby Rod.

Jillian Jeane led the pledge and Natalie Nohavitza said the 4-H motto and pledge. Attendance was called by Cydni Rod and the treasurer's report was read by Hannah Weinheimer.

The monthly announcements were read by Shelby Rod, followed by "brag time." Many awards were received throughout the club.

The club's community service project this month is to make or buy Valentine cards to send them to WinCrest.

Natalie Nohavitza adjourned the meeting and Cydni Rod seconded it.
